Mental Health Promotion and Prevention in Schools
Our goal is to make arts based mental health education accessible to all students on a consistent basis. We partner with local middle and high schools to offer daily classes as a part of the student’s normal schedule each semester.
Here’s How It Works
- Mental health professionals, educators, and artists collaborate to develop effective lesson plans.
- Drama, dance, visual arts, media, and expressive writing are incorporated throughout the curriculum.
- Interactive workshop style classes are presented by trained facilitators to small classes of 12 to 15 students.
- Students are active participants as they join facilitated group discussions, and they journal at the end of each class session for further independent reflection.
- At the end of the course, students present a final expressive arts based presentation to demonstrate their knowledge.
- Referral services for counseling are offered as needed.
